Made with Xara Welcome to The American Legion Post 69 - Avon Park, Florida   Post 69 was chartered in 1921 and is located in sunny Avon Park, Florida which is about 70 miles south of Orlando in the “Heartland of Florida”.  Post 69 has almost 700 Legion members.  It lies within the 8th District of Florida which has approximately 8000 Legion members. We belong to the Florida Department which has appoximately 200,000 members. Our Post home sits on almost 5 acres of property.  We are a smoke free post, but have provided avery nice area for our members who do smoke. We have 2 RV spaces with both electric and water hookups. In season we host our “Snowbirds” and a large number of Canadian Legion members who call Post 69 their home post for the winter. Post 69 is very active with the local community. We sponsor the Avon Park Police department K-9 Unit and the Avon Park High School JROTC together with their various sports teams.  We also run our Boys State and Girls State program through the High School and have had great success with both. In 2010, one of our Boys State representatives not only became the Florida Boys State Governor, but went on to become the National Boys State President.  He met with the President in the White House Oval Office. The Post has a lot of great things to offer everyone.  We have wonderful lunches on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  We also serve dinner specials on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  Entertainment is available with Karaoke on Wednesday and Music on Friday.  Bingo, every Tuesday afternoon, has been very popular  averaging around 100 players each week.  You can find Euchre players here on both Thursday and Sunday afternoons.  We have a lot to offer here at Post 69.  So, if you are in the area, please make it a point to stop by the “Best and Friendliest Post” in the State of Florida. So check out the other pages of our website to find out more about Post 69.  There are pages that detail our monthly calendar and events.  If you are not a member, there is membership eligibility information or links on this page for Legion membership and similar information for potential Sons of The American Legion (S.A.L.) or Auxiliary members on their corresponding pages.
